No One Told PT Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham She Had To Wear Pants For This Gig
People keep expecting her to do something resembling her job and it's so unfair!
Maybe we should cut part-time White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham some slack. Sure, she doesn't actually do anything, but she comes to work at least two or three times a week and gives a 110 percent of nothing. Unfortunately, the press she ignores isn't polite enough to return the favor. According to a report from Media Matters, Grisham has created an "information crisis" because of her refusal to give the media any information.
This should be a busy time for Grisham. Her boss, Donald Trump, is facing likely impeachment in the House of Representatives. There's a lot to discuss. However, when Newsweek asked her if she planned to clock more hours, Grisham just seemed bored and annoyed. If she wanted to answer questions all day, she'd have worked for the Riddler.
GRISHAM: I have not had any press briefings yet, which I have spoken about several times.
Yes, she's very good at speaking about press briefings. She's just not very good at holding them, which is the important part. I assume it was in her job description somewhere: The White House press secretary will from time to time talk to the press. She also keeps leaning into the"yet" whenever she admits she hasn't held a press briefing yet . It's like Ivanka Trump claiming she hasn't won the Nobel Prize yet. We have no reason to believe either event will occur.
Grisham does dial in for interviews on Fox News, which requires her to at least wear a dressy top over her jeans and flip-flops. Media Matters pointed out it's a little strange for the press secretary to only turn up on state media. But it's the only network Trump watches and Grisham wants full credit for her 20-hour work weeks.

When she discussed impeachment last week on "America's Newsroom," Grisham just regurgitated White House talking points. She was never challenged on the facts or asked any followups more demanding than "Go on?" It was the quality of a "Today" show interview with a celebrity plugging a lousy movie. Trump's Rotten Tomatoes score is below freezing, but she's still trying to hype up the president she's called a "genius."
"America's Newsroom" co-host Bill Hemmer eventually asked her when she planned to have her first press briefing. Her response was laughable.
GRISHAM: Whenever it's time. I think right now we're doing just fine.
No, you're not, lady. The president was sued Monday for defamation by E. Jean Carroll. This summer, Carroll accused Trump of sexually assaulting her inside a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room back in the 1990s. The president's scuzzy response was to dismiss Carroll as "not [his] type." This was actually better than the statement savvy professional communicator Grisham released yesterday.
GRISHAM: Let me get this straight — Ms. Carroll is suing the President for defending himself against false allegations? I guess since the book did not make any money she's trying to get paid another way. The story she used to try and sell her trash book never happened, period. Her version of events is not even feasible if you've ever tried on clothing in a dressing room of a crowded department store. The lawsuit is frivolous and the story is a fraud — just like the author.
Justice Louis Brandeis said that the remedy to "falsehoods and fallacies" is more speech, not enforced silence. However, the answer to a defamation suit is never more defamation. Shutting up is a wise move.
Grisham recently lamented to the Washington Post that no matter how badly she performs her duties, no one is ever satisfied.
GRISHAM: First I wasn't doing any TV and that was a big deal. . . . Now I am doing 'only Fox' and that is [described as] a problem. When does it stop? When will I be doing enough?
Maybe when you're no longer a rape-shaming, victim blaming POS. That's a start.

I'm not a betting woman and each lawsuit does take money, even as facts indicate that one is in the right.
It would be nice if she just lopped Grisham on in as an additional defendant pursuant to agency theory, though ...
All of the criticisms on this so far are legitimate, but also ^^^ this ^^^.
